Our Woods and Inlay

We use domestic hardwoods (mesquite, black walnut, cherry and bird's eye maple). Mesquite is an especially good wood for bowls as it has natural checks and cracks for inlaying the stone which will not dislodge over time and use.
The turquoise comes from the Sleeping Beauty mine in Globe, Arizona. To affix the turquoise, they adhere the stone with a food-safe epoxy developed by the United States government in the 1960's. This adhesive hardens and protects the stone so that it will stand up to the rigors of everyday use.
